American Sailor 1948

American Sailor 1948

A Tale of Men and Ships

The Backstory
This stunning image of the ship American Sailor was shot in Port Hueneme, California at the end of World War II.  The story, however, starts with a man named Captain Herman Henry Kiehne, who had the most unfortunate encounter at sea in 1915.

What happened to the ship and the captain is truly remarkable.
