On Wednesday September 16, 1908 Elizabeth Cutler sat on her porch in Barton, Vermont and heard the story of a remarkable baseball game. She had no idea that one of the most important people in her life would turn the spirit of that game into a legacy that changed the lives of thousands of children.

I have come across hundreds of team images like this one. Why did I research this particular photo? I’m not sure, but it led me to a story of humanity far bigger than baseball.
