The Ultimate Stunt 1937

The Ultimate Stunt 1937

A Stuntman's Attempted Escape from Nazi Germany

The Backstory

Dimpfel Royal was born in 1897 and fought for Germany in WWI. After the war he learned gymnastics and soon took those skills to the sky.

His stunt? Hanging from a flying plane by his teeth.

When the Nazi party took control of Germany in 1930 Dimpfel was forced to perform only in Germany. A trip to Belgium resulted in him being labeled a traitor.

He sent this postcard he was trying to pull off his biggest trick ever - escaping to America.
